Is anybody using Windows7 yet?

I have only recently gotten halfway used to Vista and haven't found it a big improvement over XP.

I would like to hear some comments about Win7 before I switch again.

I have not used it but the reviews I've read say that it is an improvement over Vista. There is better driver support and it's not as big a resource hog. They are even running it successfully on netbooks. That said, I'm in no hurry to switch. All our computers are trouble free and are doing what we need.

I've not played with it yet but like PK I've heard that it is not as much of a resource hog as Vista and it actually performs better. I'm thinking I will HAVE to get on board with it as I'm going up for my CompTIA A+ certification soon and I will need to have a handle on Vista at least and possibly 7.

Stuff is always changing huh?

We didn't change from XP either (when I was still employed). The reviews for Vista really stank and the hardware upgrade requirements frankly were ridiculous. Many of our fully functional and perfectly capable machines would have had to have been outright replaced simply to run an Operating System.

The real clincher against Vista was the fact that Intel (a Microsoft business partner) refused to upgrade their own internal PCs with it. I seem to remember the diplomatic version being something like "we needed to deploy internal resources to areas where we would see better return on our investment".

But from what I've seen on windows7 Microsoft may have learned their lesson. Yeah - right.

Like the new Mac commercial where the PC guy says, "Trust me. There won't be any of the problems like Vista" and they keep going back in time to Windows 2. :D

I upgraded to different computer last fall. With it came a free upgrade to Windows 7 (it cost me $17.00 for the free Upgrade another story) I like it better than XP and much better than Vista. It is faster and much less annoying than Vista. Haven't tried it on my netbook yet. So far I am running it just fine on 2 gig of ram.

I dont have hands on experience with Windows 7 but i do know from what i have read is that windows 7 is what Vista was supposed to be. They rushed vista out the door to compete with a release of a new Mac OS. So with that i have heard NOTHING bad about 7 and its supposed to be way better than xp and xp is already a great os. I have been considering an upgrade to 7 but i dont think i could afford to upgrade all my computers LOL.

I simply cannot believe how many files Vista has.....an upgrade to Windows 7 would be a welcome change. It sure takes my virus protection a long time to go through all of the files....

Just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and love it. Had XP before so I can't speak to Vista.

Before I retired, I worked in Gartner's consulting organization. They would not move to Vista. Here's some stuff on what they are telling big IT organizations about Windows 7 http://www.gartner.com/technology/research/reports/windows-7-report.jsp

If you are using Vista, run, don't walk to Windows 7! The performance improvements are immense! I'm using it in a virtual environment at home and am seriously considering upgrading my work laptop in the near future if for nothing else than the boot time improvements. I literally lose 15 minutes of my day every time my laptop has to boot and try and talk to networks that it is not connected to!

I am running Windows 7 on my desk top and lap top. Both are upgrades from the Vista downgrade. Like others have said, if you are using Vista, run, don't walk, to Windows 7!!
