OK, I'm recieving mail from both accounts but I can't send mail from either one. When I hit "Send", I get this message:

This message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server outgoingyahoo.verizon.net failed. Please verify your SMTP server settin is correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Larry on almost all email accounts set up by a typical Internet Provider there is a setting for a POP3 (receiving) and a SMTP (sending).

In my Thunderbird it is smtp.wmis.net

Go to your Tools pull down menu> Account Settings>

This should open the settings for your e-mail account and your smtp server field is down towards the bottom. You will need to enter that smtp field as it was given to you by your ISP.

It's probably the one thing I don't like about Thunderbird is that they don't put the smtp settings and the POP3 settings in the same area.

I dunno...

When I drink the Thunderbird under the highway overpass, I don't have any issues with it...

Try the following:

Open Thunderbird, go to TOOLS/ACCOUNT SETTINGS/click on OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) on the left side, then click EDIT.

You will get the outgoing settings window: Your outgoing server should be outgoing.verizon.net.
For port use 587, put in your user name (not the verizon part). Check using name and password. Click OK.
