Sorry that I left chat so quickly lastnight. I didn't intend to.
I just got kicked off and a page came up telling me that I had a virus! (in my puter, not my body :D )
I couldn't get back on, I couldn't do anything untill I ran an anti-virus that was shown on my screen!! As I was about to run it, I noticed that there was a charge to down load it!
I quickly got out of it and shutdown my puter and called the Son-inlaw (an IT guy) I ran the puter over to their house about 8:30 and he started to clean it up.
I just went back over this AM to pick it up. :-D My daughter told me that he found over 20 viruses and worms!! and he thinks they all came in at once!
FROM THE CHAT!
Anyone else have a problem lastnight during chat????

Rog

Yup, two weeks in a row I've been attacked on the Chat. Last week it wanted me to download its own anti-virus stuff, but I was able to get out without doing that. This week, AVG just booted me out and I didn't even try to get back in. I ran SpyBot and it said I didn't have any bad stuff on the computer.

I was afraid of that! :x
It was such a supprise that I didn't think about all the others until later.
It was a first for me.

UP WITH THIS I WILL NOT PUT!!

Im sorry but, I wont be on "Chat" for awhile if at all. If it wasn't for my son-in-law saving me, I wouldn't know what to do and would be with out a puter even now.
I understand that there is not much anyone can do about it but, I'm going to be very careful what I do and where I go on the internet for awhile.

Rog

PS Jan installed AVG 9.0 for me as a safety net for virses but, I dont trust anything right now.

Roger, now calm down!!!! I use AVG and it's what kicked me off of the Chat before I was infected. I've also started using SpyBot for what AVG might be missing.

So, I would imagine each time one of us was kicked off last night, it was because of our anti-virus software kicking in and taking us out of harm's way.

So, just in case you haven't set up a daily anti-virus check, please do. My AVG runs at 6 pm every evening, but only if I have the laptop on. So, if I'm not home to let it run automatically, I just set it up to run later. I also make sure the updates are run automatically, also.

We just have to try to protect ourselves from those nasties

Verna

EDIT: AVG says I have no infections. I love that AVG

I contacted the chat operators, they will correct like they did before . the meanies break in from time to time

this happened once before.

As always keep your anti virus and all security checks updated and ON.

there has got to be a simpler safer way perhaps a Yahoo chat or something similar where only certain members are allowed in. Not a Free WIDE OPEN chat. thats where the problem lies.
