Short and sweet!
I had to restore my computer because of a virus.
Lost or removed a lot of stuff.
Norton is now off and I can not find free AVG, which must not have worked.
I have "Spy Sweeper for MSN", but now have no Antivirus help.

Linda is going to Office Depot tomorrow and I want her to get something that will work with Windows XP.

Can you help by 9 am Thursday, please.

I do, I do thank you all. bob

I have been using Avast for years with good results. It is a free download at the link Vicki indicates. A good utility for general computer housekeeping is CCleaner, or/and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are available for free download.

i second the reccomendation of AVG ...The thing is if the updates werent updating the virus database then you are subject to whatever comes your way. Also Virusesssss... or Viri or whatever dont magically appear from nowhere. They came from email or websites. need to find out who, what, when, and where it happened.

paidd for or free avast or avg are killer apps

I usually set up avg for my family.

I like Avast because it sets itself up to be the first item to boot during a system check.

either choice is good free or paid for.

Honestly I have paid for Norton since 2000 it is realiable too. at work we use the corporate version of Norton without complaint.

with AVG and Avast you just have to read to find the free version

Newguy - who is the anti-virus provider for the Comodo Firewall/Antivirus bundle? I haven't found that info on their site yet.

I disabled the Comodo antivirus and just use their firewall. I have no idea who their antivirus provider is.....sorry.

That's okay. I like my Avast so I downloaded their package and selected no anti-virus during the install. Seems like a decent package for the money.

AVG has been working for me really well. I had some issues with Norton (not the Larry Norton type) and I haven't missed it.

I just renewed the paid version of AVG for another two years for $59. It's downloadable and you can also get a DVD if you wish.

Just my two cents.
