You can get free webspace at earthlink and other places~for a fee. You need to spend 10.00 a month, or so, for an account. Then you can build your own website from their templates. I did that for a few years until I ran out of space and had to upgrade for more $. Here's mine:

Both Yahoo & GoDaddy have some basic templates you can work from to build a basic web site.

If you want something more professional, then shoot me a PM.

The best thing I ran into recently was at http://www.bluehost.com. For $6.95/ month you have unlimited domain names, unlimited webspace, unlimited email accounts, word processor like page designer (wysiwyg), eCommerce plugins, flash plugins, etc. etc. etc. The bennies over there are way too many to mention...

I'll chime in here, $10 a month is way to high! I pay about $4 a month and run a few sites.

First thing you need to do is get a domain name, ***.com, .us, org and so on. They run about $15 a year, I stay away from the hosting company giving a free domain name as they tend to keep the ownership of your name, or make it very hard to move that name to another internet service provider (ISP).

Once you have a name you need server space or and ISP. I use currently going for $6 a month and offers 4 free domain names, and 1250 GIGs of storage space and enough band width to use every bit of it.

After you get the domain name, ISP all lined up then you just fill in the blank pages.

Here's a couple of sites I manage:
www.Vaiorg.org
www.Goodwoodsawmill.com (set this basic site up in exchange for some nice black wallnut and the guy decided he wasn'y going to adversitise it to his customers and never sent me any up dates, notice advertising on the side helps defray the cost if you get any trafic :) )
