We exchanges a few trinkets, He brought me a couple of chunks of Cedar, a piece of Oak Burl and a marvelous piece of SYTBN (spieces yet to be named). :D :D :D

I am going to copy that first photo and hang it in my shop. It should keep all the critters out of it.! :) :-D :D

Looks like you both had fun and from your side of the meeting notes, you both must have scored BIG SUCKAGE!

Well Jeff said said it. A great visit.

Jeff had posted that he had a couple of lathes for sale last October. I offer to purchase one of them then. The plan was that I would pick it up on my next trip to Virginia.
I was going down there about once a month then. Well, as would have it. Travel $$$ at work dried up with the economy.
I offered to pay Jeff for the lathe just to hold it but he said not to worry. We swapped messages a few times and he moved it out of his way into a dark corner of his shop.
I finally managed to swing a trip down there this week. I got a hold of him and we agreed to meet at his place.
I had been there a few years ago so I was familiar with the layout.

We met, loaded the lathe an exact copy of the Nova 3000 I have in my shop. I bought it for spare parts and a bed extension.

I brought Jeff some Cape Cod turning stock and he offered to fill my rental van with wood from his stash.
It was a very gracious offer. However, my wood bin is stuffed so I didn't have much room at the house. I did manage to grab some real nice Cherry, Persimmon, Elm, and Gum.

Hopefully I will post those project in the coming months.

We had a great time. Jeff offered dinner but I had to meet a neighbors kid who is living in the DC area for dinner.

It was a great visit.
Thanks Jeff for you hospitality. And for holding the lathe for so long.

I left DC this morning at 3AM and finally got home at 12:00 Noon. No traffic but it was raining hard most of the way back.
Passed a Truck-Truck accident at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge in NYC and a minivan spin out on 95 in New Haven CT.
Saw both of them happen in front of me. Not a close call but a good reminder to take it easy.

Mike
