I've been hanging around waiting for deliveries all day
The Timber arrived OK although at least two pieces are badly warped... but then they are 22 feet long:shock:
Smile
I reckon I can correct for that since the tanalised bottom frame is being rawl-bolted to the concrete.
Next to arrive was some 'Rocksilk' wall batts. I couldn't believe how much space they took up. Completely filled the width of our hall.... and that was only an initial order of 4 packs... (which I know will not be enough)
I was immediately worried because the celotex for the floor insulation hadn't arrived although all the insulation was ordered together.
Phone call to my internet based supplier... transpires that they act as a middle man and the gear was coming from two different places. Strangely the stuff coming from Portsmouth arrived first. The celotex from Tunbridge Wells, which is much closer, a lot later.
Lots of lifting and carrying, the wood was a strain the insulation light but bulky.
Could I start assembly?....
No..... Still awaiting the last essential items.... specialised outdoor use screws and the rawl bolts. On order from, the expected suspects, I had paid £5 Extra to ensure that they be there before 12.00 Noon...... problem was that had passed and 1.00 pm was very near.
Checked my e mails... nothing new from the company.. and no phone calls either.....
so I phoned them......after putting up with the usual Muzak.... got through only to be told, after being told my order number, 'Parcel Force sent us an e mail that 200 orders had failed to go for before noon delivery. ..... but we will definitely deliver before noon' tomorrow
They even tried to say that they wouldn't reimburse the £5 charge... I soon put them right on that score!
In the car and drive to the nearest trade counter for this company (there are three in the locality..... I ordered on line to save me time)
The nearest had some drill bits and the flooring screws but not the Joist Screws or the rawl bolts
Off to another one near work... got the remaining items but by this time the afternoon was nearly over
Finally had a chance to open my lovely Saw
Wow that thing is big.!
Thought I'd sort out a Base Board for it first and duly cut some Melamine chip to length screwed a batten to the bottom and clamped it in my strongest 'Workmate' With some effort got the saw resting on the board
Looked good until I realised I'd forgotten that it has pull out support wings... which means I'd cut the base board too short.... and of course it was my last bit of melamine -chip that was long enough.
Back in the car yet again to pick up another board.... darkness falling as I left the place... finally got the saw mounted under floodlights.
Still left with nowhere to easily put the Wall Batts. SHMBO NOT HAPPY.
Managed to get two into my car and drove them to work where I've put them in the basement store... the advantage of having my own business
I promised my wife to take the other two to work tomorrow night... crisis averted
....
Roll on Sunday and attempt number two, to make some progress.....
