Not so good...

We got blown out of the arena - 21 - 52.

BUT, I told the kids that we win as a team and we lose as a team.

Another quick observation...

When you win, you are a coaching genius. When you lose a game, EVERYONE can do it better than you can.....

Pics should be following...

You could always bring in some ringers... you know.... 30 year old x-pro players that couldn't quite make it are always looking to make a buck. I know a guy that could make some fake id's cheap too

I'm sure they are having fun, and losing is a learning experience too... for players, coaches, and parents

I still remember a few years ago when a friend of mine said that his 9 year-old's soccer league played without goalies because "it put too much pressure on the goalie". If they don't learn to win and lose as kids, when will they? OK, off my soapbox :-D

Hey, that's only 3 touchdowns behind. Not that bad. ;)

Hang in there!! Remember it is the journey and not the destination.

It's not the kids I've got the issue with...

They want to practice next week - even though we don't have a game Labor Day weekend...

It's the parents. "Why don't you play the best players on the court at the same time?" "Why don't you tell the point guard to pass to my daughter. She's open under the basket."....

Oy!

Tom,

If you can teach those kids that winning with grace is excellent, but even more important when you lose you will have completed a big mission that will help them out for the rest of their lives.

Sure winning is always more fun, but it does not always happen.

Keep up the good work Coach!!!

Putting up the the "know it all " parents are the biggest challenge. Inviting them to stand up in front of the kids and tell them how do it usally shuts up the "know it all - do nothing" parents.

Tom,

I had a similar problem when I was the Cub Master and ran the Pinewood Derby.

Some parents had to tell me how I could do it better. After I told them I would put them down for running it the next year, there were no more complaints. :D :D :D

Hang in there, it's very satisfying.
