It's often very difficult or impossible to track down any history on stuff like this, since squadrons are free to design and purchase "unofficial" patches, etc. at their discretion. I have a belt buckle, for example, for a squadron I was with while deployed in Japan in the late '70's. Only 127 were ever made, one for each of us. Sometimes the only way is to locate a former member of that organization and query them about it. Good luck with your hunt.
Yup, and that tradition still continues... I have a few similar items (some of which arn't fit to post on a family forum)
