Just to show what 70 mph winds and large hail can do.

This ran west to east about 25 miles south of us Sunday morning.

What a mess.

Yep, tennis ball sized hail moving at an estimated minimum of 70 mph is serious business.

Very sad for all involved. Some of the earlier pictures that were shown before some cleanup in Eldora looked like a hurricane had come thru.

Well to offer a couple of cliche's; Without bad weather nobody would appreciate the good weather. And, one man's trash is another mans treasure. Might be some good timber in those down trees that they could sell to folks like us, and thus help them financially. :)

I feel for the farmers and residents for the damage they had.

Farmers have a gambling life... They have no control on the price of the seed, fuel, sale of their crops, and most importantly, they can't control the weather, which as seen, can ruin all their hard work and hopes for a bumper crop which was looking good.

Wow! I had heard they had hail in Iowa but no idea of the extent of damage. Been through hail storms and always had something to harvest, they don't. Unbelievable!

Thanks for posting that.

That same storm produced straight-line winds here in Michigan. One apple farmer lost 90% of his trees, not just the fruit! He says it will be at least 10 years to replace them and get back to producing a crop.

Bob, you have been gone a spell, nice to see you back.

Apple trees seem to be rather fragile with all of the weight of the apples, that is sad.
