One project I can think of using this technique, making a wooden bow to turn a simple box into a gift box

I've made a number of bent wood shelf brackets by just soaking the wood overnight and clamping it in a form until cool and dry. I've seen this hot pipe technique before but never tried it. From the looks of the example one can get really tight bends with it. I'm inclined to think stainless steel pipe would be the preferred pipe material if available??
