things woodworking, most have a GOLDILOCKS position. Not too fast or too slow, not too hard or soft not too shiny or dull and on and on. Just plain lumber also has a sweet spot. Here is an article about that.

Cut the lumber to rough working sizes and let those pieces aclimate then(patience) cut them to the specific sizes for the parts. Just a little pppppp eliminates surprises when they are definitely not needed.
