Why is simple so hard? The plain ole flat blade screwdriver is the main subject at this URL and this simple tool has some complexities that are far from obvious but we all know about them and often ignore that knowledge ( insert the TOOLMANS ooof woof ooof here). None the less, particularly for older pieces and reproductions, the plain ole straight slot screw and driver are important.

REMEMBER!!!! PREdrill :roll: the proper pilot hole for the screw you are going to use and like SCOTT PHILLIPS says always wax the screws before driving them. BTW if you can't figure out how to predrill a pilot hole just use a drill bit and drill the darn thing.
