Hand screw clamps are the oldest clamps I have. Over time I have found many uses for some of their unique capabilities. Here are tips from SHOPNOTES magazine on for handscrew clamps

For edge gluing hardwood to the edges of plywood I use a trick I learned from some old time woodworkers - masking tape. You can achieve a good deal of compression but stretching the tape over and onto both side of the plywood. Then the quick grab of the glue will help keep the hardwood in place while I apply edge clamps.
