The block plane can perform so many duties when it comes to detail on a project that every one should have one. Trimming to fit, smoothing a rough spot, finishing an edge and much more can be done with a few gentle, silent(almost) swipes with a hand fitting block plane.

That reminds me. It's almost time to start my annual sharpening ritual for planes and other stuff. :)
