are made to last. It's a stretch to get this into woodworking territory but here goes. The Eagles generaly mate for life, build a nest and add to it regularly in anticipation of making and raising more eagles. Those nests dont qualify as fine woodworking but the birds can get a nest built to enormous proportions over the years, they aren't pretty but they are sturdy and durable to last so long. I'm fortunate to have two Eagle centers within 100 miles and anticipate the (usually January) return of the pairs at the Decorah IA site. Those Eagles picked a particularly good site for their nest, it's directly above a fish hatchery . This URL is for the FACEBOOK page for the raptor resource center here.

NOTE: The URL will lead you to a FACEBOOK sign in page BUT there is a "not right now" click through to avoid the FB. also
on the right side of the page you get to there is a click through : ABOUT US for the RAPTOR CENTER it really is worth going there and exploring all the bird cams in operation and if you go deep enough into exploring you will find links to raptor study units all over the place. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

Here in Skagit Valley WA we have an annual Eagle Festival. "Up river" (Skagit River) there are dozens and dozens of these magnificent creatures. We don't go every year but enjoy it when we can.
