has these monumental trees.

http://www.monumentaltrees.com/en/records/usa/

Another article about the tree in the last Daily URL states that the tree will be cut down in 2017. The tree has been filled where needed with cement and supported with cables to hold the branches which span almost 50 feet wider than the tree is tall. The trees demise is credited to the extreme and rapid swings in temperature and moisture which caused the trees natural system to close down and not maintain the ability to rehydrate.
As DON2LAUGHS points out cuttings were taken from this tree and have been propagated so the DNA carries on. The cuttings have grown to be about 10 ft tall now.

Thanks for the update, NT. Glad to know the DNA will be carried forward.
