When we built our house and shop I made shop shelves out of left over pieces of wood siding. Now I replaced the old shelves which were moved into the storage building for use there, with a new cabinet made from pieces that were left from building my daughters kitchen cabinets Two side pieces that ended up two inches too short, and two doors that were one inch too short for a different cabinet. I made the drawers out of salvaged fire wood trimmings and left over plywood from the cabinets.I made the sides just like you would make cabinet doors.,except for the top drawer .Now I have small objects where I can find them just by pulling out the drawers instead of going through a lot of boxes.I used left over drawer slides for the drawers.

On the subject of using "scrap" to build a project, here is a "tablet" storage rack I did for the elementary school my wife is at. I did have to break down and buy a half sheet of 1/4 ply. :-)
