My wife needed something better for storing all her spools. She saw an ad for a box like this. (Currently on
sale for "only" $1000!) Needless to say I spent nothing near that to make it.
Cherry, lock miters in the corners, wooden runners for the drawers.
Roughly 12" deep, 11" high, 9" wide. All 1/2" stock.
Should you decide to make a box with a front that slides under, here's a tip. The slot that the pins in the door ride in should be shaped like a capital T on it's side, with a very short cross-bar. You need the space above the long slot so the door can lift as it pivots down, otherwise the corner won't clear the bottom. You need the space below the long slot so the door doesn't pivot around the bullet catch when it's closed.
