Anyone know of a source for latches like the sketch? I have a need for 4 about 2 or at most 3inches long. A friend says he's seen the like in the past somewhere. :-)

Thanks for any leads.

You might try VanDykes https://www.vandykes.com/ , or Horton https://www.horton-brasses.com/

Thanks. I may have come up with a system that will be easier to build. I've tried it with a "springy" bit of plastic and if I can come up with a source of spring steel and a way to attach a "pull" to it without loosing the spring it'll be a winner.

You might take a look at a constant force spring, such as used in windows. Don't know if you could fashion a latch like you want from one, since it might be difficult to bend in that shape. http://www.vulcanspring.com/conforce-co ... ce-springs . Many hardware stores carry these or similar. Usually pretty low priced - $2 or $3 for small ones.
