A customer asks "You build beautiful custom furniture, could you build a Whelping Box?" I said "I probably could, if I knew what one was"

It's a place for Mamma dog to feed her babies. It's built almost entirely of 3/4in. plywood and 2 X 4's. The "Pig Rail" is removable, it keeps the puppies from climbing out. Thanks for looking!

Great idea, Larry, sorta like a whelping bed?

Curious as to what looks to be a 2x4 running around about 1/3 up from the bottom??

Dennis, it's called a "Pig Rail" (I have no idea why). It keeps the puppies from trying to climb out.

Maybe the rail is to prevent the big dog from rolling onto the pups. I think hog farmers go to great lengths to prevent the sow from crushing the piglets

Thanks, Larry. Makes sense.

Do we get to see the puppies once they're born? I'm a pushover for puppies!
