I dont post very many projects here. You guys do some very beautiful work.

I thought Id give you a idea of the type of woodwork I do.

I just finished a rustic wine rack for a friend.

This was just completed when I took the photo nothing staged. I distressed the top sides and drawer front giving it a hand hewn look and feel using a hand power planer with a special head then sanding it smooth.

The stain is a mixure of Umber penetrating stain mixed with acetone and clear acrylic finish .

Then gone over with coat of orange shellac mixed from flakes and finally a coat of wax.

Heres a shot of the top and a front view

Looks great!
What kind of wood is it?
What is the special head you used in the planer?

What's that? Did you shave acrylic and dissolve it in acetone? What does it do?

Zulu thanks. You guys do such good work I get a little shy about showing what I do.
I used 4/4 birch. Then I used the undulating acessory head for my festool 850 planer . Its kinda cool.

Here are some photos of a shelf I built for our laundry room. its where I developed using the planer with the undulating head and this finish as a brush on rather then spray it.

The figure on the top of the wine rack and shelf are beautiful!

Whatever your finish schedule is ... really highlights it.

Be proud of your work.
However far along your woodworking path you've gone.
