It seems like one of my favorite forums is dying a slow death.
Not very many postings these days.

Here is what I'm working on currently.
Most of you have seen these before. These will be 12th and 13th ones I have made.
I will be putting these in stock. They are not sold yet.

I only took these few pictures of the process.
They each have over 24' of flat bar in them. 75 brass screws require 75 holes drilled in the iron, 75 holes countersunk for screws and 75 pilot holes in the oak.
All the ironwork is hand forged by me. I make my own hinges.

They are now disassembled and being stained and painted.

More pictures when I get them finished.

To quote Zulu.

Great craftsmanship, Jim! I always check in....almost everyday since 2003. I DO need to pay my dues and post more. None of my projects match your skill level but that is no excuse. I love this forum, too.
Gotta change the way I work in my shop to accommodate pictures. I rarely step in there without a plan formulated in my head to get a certain something done....and don't think about sharing that activity 'til it's done...and usually gone.
I'm building a kitchen shelf for Emily right now...she wants something to hang her new stainless steel cookware on....then I have a request for a small altar table to hold stones and other meditational paraphernalia....these girls....whatteryagonna do? Anyway...I'm gonna go down there this evening and take some pics to share.
As for the 'slow death' observation....I've been witnessing that for the past 12 years.....there was a conflict of ideas that alienated many members and the folks just began to wither away. BUT . a few of us are still persevering and, I see, one is returning!! Larry Norton
Thanks for the lifeblood Zulu

Don,
I'm not Jim.
I'm Michael

Finally got them finished! Took a while because of all the Christmas activities.
I was looking forward to looking at them for a while but both sold to the same guy 24 hours after I finished the last one.
I guess that's not a bad thing.
They didn't even have a chance to get put up on my website.

This is my website page for this type of ammo chest.

http://jmelledge.com/AmmunitionChests.html

There is over 23' of hand forged flat iron in one of these.
Enjoy the pics!

Those are awesome, "Michael" (sorry for calling you Jim) Don't know where I got that....evidence of CRS.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...you inspire me!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful craftsmanship. Someday I'm gonna be in your area and hope to make contact & ask for a visit...would love to meet you in person!

Don,
If you find yourself around here just contact me. I'll be glad to show you around.
You might be disappointed. My shop is small. 12' X 24'. I am space poor but equipment rich.
