Hi users of this forum!

I need your help in selecting the type of motor for the table saw.
What is the most important thing to consider. I have in mind these brands: baldor, Weg and leeson.
The preferred characteristics are here:
Single HP
1725 or 1800 RPM
Three Phase
TEFC preferred

Thanks!

 Are you sure that you have three phase? That usually is for industrial use. The power co. just converted to three phase past my transformer but the conversion to 3 phase to my house is very expensive so I decided I don't need it.
What brand is your saw and how big( saw size)?

Leeson makes good motors. I replaced the factory motor on my TS with one a few years ago. Baldor is also excellent, but much more expensive.

Hey Harmondreamer,

First, welcome aboard!

Second, I agree with Gene that Leeson is good. Baldor is better, but as with most things, you get what you pay for. Shipping can be a consideration, depending on where you are, the cost difference between Baldor and Leeson is greater or smaller.

I also have the same question as Frank, are you sure you want a 3Ø motor? Your shop would need to be wired for 3Ø, which is usually industrial or commercial buildings. Given that you only want a 1Hp motor, that suggests hobby usage, not an industrial use. Also, a 1725 motor would be a 1Ø motor, more likely to be a home shop situation.

Lastly, why only 1HP? Most table saws use at least 1 1/2 Hp, and 3250 rpm. Most of the better saws have at least 2Hp.

Just my 2¢,
Tom

PS: A little more info on the one I bought.

Leeson model # M6C34FB8J . Put in on a 14 yo Craftsman contractor saw. Price has gone up a lot since I bought mine on sale in 2012. TEFC, & can be wired for 220VAC. It's rated @1.5hp @115VAC, but doing the numbers it's closer to 2hp, and the performance bears that out. Very smooth running, fast spool up.

I also installed forged pulley's and link belt.

Here's the motor specs:
http://www.leeson.com/leeson/searchprod ... oductType=

I suggest you speak to them on the phone if you decide to go with Leeson, since their woodworking motors come in several different bases, etc.

Actually, I’m in confusion regarding the technical specifications. I’m, still not sure in it.
I own a bosch table saw.
Three-phase power is available.
Found this leeson motor https://www.mrosupply.com/motors/ac-mot ... 00_leeson/
The price suits me, but I hesitate now about the supplier.
Local shops have a very poor assortment., so I have to ship it.

That's only 1/2hp. Don't know what model Bosch you have, but I'm guessing one of the small table top models. 1/2 hp is pretty small for any power tool. You need to call Leeson, and tell them what model Bosch you have. They will tell you what motor you need. I don't know anything about MROSupply.

Go to the Bosch website. type in your model number. you will then know the specifics of your saw.

Welcome
