Look what I found today at a garage sale! Score. Shop Smith. Table saw, drill press, lathe, sander, shaper, and grinder all in one. This baby will solve my traveling woodworking shop dilemma. Does anyone else have one? How well does it work?

A friend has one, although he prefers his dedicated power tools. The issue with the shopsmith, as I understand it, is constantly have to rearrange the thing for different tasks. I think some thoughtful planning might help with the switcharoo issues tho. They do have a decent website, with a lot of project plans, etc. . https://www.shopsmith.com/

I've never used a Shopsmith but, at one time, they were "all the rage" I know.
My uncle bought one back in the '50s and my dad was all kinds of jealous over it.
My uncle did make a dinning room table with his Shopsmith but other than that, I can't help.
I've heard too that the real problem with them is the constant rearranging of things to use the specific tool. You need to do all of your table sawing at once before you switch to the drill press for example.
