Finished this project a few days ago for my sis-in-law. She saw the one I made for my wife and of course she wanted one. The shade doesn't go with it, she will have to find one she likes.

Geez, that's beautiful. Tell us about the woods used? Other project tidbits?

Sides are just 1/2" Oak. Did a lot of bending. Cut the sides on the band saw and then after bending, gluing, and clamping I had to do a lot of sanding to get everything right.
The bottom started as about 18"X6"X4" cut off pieces I scrounged from a local place that makes wood pallets for commercial loading and unloading stuff on trucks. Again a lot of cutting, sanding, and fitting. Basically the bottom is a square of 4 pieces joined with 45 degree angles. The trick was making the outside with the angle that I wanted for looks. The pieces are about 2 inches thick at the bottom and one inch at the top. Then I just cut a square piece to fill in. Of course, with my skill the bottom isn't a perfect square so the filler piece had to be trimmed to fit. A lot of hours went into this, thus it isn't something I could make and sell for a profit.
And, of course, I usually never make more than one of anything. They are all one of a kind.
