Its a hybrid. Wooden sole (beech?) and iron blade and mechanics. Blade is marked UNION New England USA. First time I see one. What is it called? Something to keep, sell or chuck away? fairly goog condition too, Just need to hone the blade and wash the dust of it. I hope.
They're called "Transitional" planes. A lot of companies made them, including Stanley. Here's some info on them from Patrick.
