The lady of the house was out shopping. Stopped at a car boot sale bought a flower pot. Next to it was a some tools. She bought them for 40kr =5 USD. Chisels, Swedish brands, Berg, Jernbolaget Bison in various withs and condition. and then a big lump of plane I havent seen before. Cast iron. marked PATENT.
What can it be used for? Is it worth spending time to clean up?

Thanks for looking./Anders

That's really interesting.
Somewhat "bull-nose" in design.
Although split "irons" with an odd "T" shaped front.
How in the heck would you hold it in use? Pull it from the front?

Cast iron?
Why are there cavities on both sides of the plane?
Wonder if it's an ingot mold or used in a function similar.

Odd there is no handle. I understand the void in the bottom could be used to reduce friction/drag. I'm getting the feeling that it might be part of a bigger machine.

This may have been designed to work on its side, like a shooting plane. One for either right or left hand use. Just a thought anyway.

Hey Anders,

I was thinking along the same lines as Frank, that it might be part of a larger processing machine. Maybe some kind of millwork machine maybe?

Cheers,
Tom

I met an old carpenter a few days ago and he said it was used when renovatiing windowframes. To remove paint and so on. Therefor it has got to blades so you can push both to left or right..

Anders may have it right, and without the voids it would just be a solid block and be very heavy to carry around.
