I just finished my third, 1/4 scale, #2 carriage, for the Brooks Napoleon barrel.
An awful lot of time goes into one of these but they turn out really cool.

This one will soon go on my website for sale. I got it finished just in time to take it with me to a cowboy action shooting competition where I will be a vendor.
These things are fairly expensive. I will be asking $4500 for it. I actually sold the last one I made for $5000.

Enjoy the pictures.

It's pretty crazy. This one is not even sold yet and I have an order for another carriage for someone who has their own brass Napoleon barrel.
These things are expensive! Real expensive!

It is intensely gratifying that folks are willing to pay for my artwork. :D
It is the dream of every woodworker that what we love to do can somehow pay us some money.
My advantage is that almost no one else makes stuff like I do.
I have never done well looking for customers. They find my website on Google.
I have over 135,000 hits on my site now. Pretty cool! 8)

We will see if the Cowboy action shooting crowd will empty their wallets in my direction.
That event is coming up in two weeks.

Clipper,
I'm going to be in your neck of the woods.
Hwy. 87, 8.1 miles North of Comfort on the West side. Stieler Hill Ranch. Free admission I am told.
Public welcome.

One of the things that has been missing from my Napoleon carriages has been the sponge bucket.
I haven't made one because I knew it was going to be hard to do one in 27% scale.
The bucket is only 2 3/8" tall.
I needed a piece of 2.1" O.D. thin wall pipe and couldn't figure out what to use.
A friend suggested muffler pipe which is 2" O.D.
Close enough. Hit the muffler shop and got a free scrap piece 18" long.

The rest was tiny cutting, tiny grinding, and tiny welding. The wooden lid is proper.
I have 5 hours in this thing if you can believe it.

It's not perfect but it is still pretty cool and a pretty good scale example of the real thing.
I have "Antique Ordnance Publishers" drawings for Implements which includes this drawing.

The bucket was hauled under the carriage when not in use.

Enjoy the pics.

Your posts are always a joy, Zulu! You're one helluva craftsman.
Noticing the spokes in those wheels....did you get the specs on those from observation or is there a written diagram? I see they are not round and seem to have dimensions that could be altered (not uniform) so as to conform to grain direction. How do you shape them?
That is a beautiful piece of artillery.

Don,
I do not make the wheels. I buy them online from a place called Custom Wagons. They cost me about $340 delivered. I could never make them for twice that.

http://www.customwagons.com/store/index ... w&ref=1030

They are properly made from drawings from the 1860's.

Little Bear,
There are some folks making Gatling guns. They can go for as much as $60,000 for a full scale piece.

They are wicked awesome!!!

I'm getting better at these things. I made two more. Now I have three. Two are sold and one is going with the Napoleon carriage I have for sale.
This time, I made two in six hours. That's a lot better than one in five hours. :-D

I don't use the word "cute" very often to describe my work, but these things are so small that they might merit the term.
