My little 6 gallon Porter Cable air compressor died today.
I use it mostly for blowing out dust. I also use a few staples and air nails, but not big jobs.
I do have a vacuum chuck system (Hold Fast) that I use the compressor.
The compressor I have wasn't very expansive. And, I guess that shows since in isn't very old.
I don't a huge industrial size model.
Any thoughts on a compressor that will last several years. I don't

Thanks,
George

I have a Harbor Freight 2hp 4 gal twin tank (item#60567) that has held up well for me and I haave seen carpenters use them for several years with no failures.
The oiled compressors last longer than the diaphragm type but tend to be slightly noiser.

I've had the same compressor for about 5 years and it seems to be holding up reasonably well, esp given the price if you catch it on sale (and then add a 20% off coupon). I've used it for nailing, inflating, blowing dust, and even painting. It can pretty much keep up with my LVLP gun.

I have a Porter Cable, probably the same size.
had to replace the piston and connecting rod and been fine ever since.
Don't just replace the piston alone, I did twice and didn't last but a few days.
