Hi all, hope you are all well ,sorry been a while, arm pains been killing me for months but got some time to make a front door before the new year.

The gun stock joint was done on the TS with multiple passes and all joints a trough wedged mortice.Size of material is 45 mm,bot rail is 250 mm,stiles are 110 mm and the center also wide.Mortice drill on my delta DP.

Door size is 813 x 2032 .Took two days to make. The two top panels will be glass.

Good job. It takes a lot of work to build a door.

Have a great day.

Hey Francois,

You stumped me with the gunstock joint. I've never seen that before. What's the purpose of the joint, other than aesthetics?

Cheers,
Tom

Hey thanks CJ,Tom ,Lb and a Happy New Year to you all.

Tom its just the style so in another words the stile reduces in width to give more light from the glass panels ,hence the name " gunstock"

In that case it had to match other existing doors on site so I would say its a bit of boht for all the extra work that goes in .I charge much more compare to a normal door but if set up properly it can be done in a couple of days :-D

Have Fun
Francois

I had never heard the term before, either. I looked it up and found this explanation.
Basically it's saying that if you're making a rounded corner where the rail meets the stile, it avoids a little wedge that's prone to getting knocked off.
