Here's a little (4"x6") box I made today.
Four layers, offset and glued. The lid is rabbeted on the bottom edge to sit neatly in the body.

the wood is some not very good cherry, hence the odd color.
The waves are cut with a 45° chamfer bit and a CNC router.
