Well after reading Dewayne's post about his new shop, this hardly rates, but here it is. It is finally whole, though far from complete. That is to say that all is done except for the trim and finish. I'm also going to add a few things.

Anyway, I'll let the pics do the talking. Here is after the initial siding went up:

Then I got a little help from a good friend and former co-worker at Raytheon. Paul and 2 of his sons came over to help with the roof, and the initial flooring of the loft, I still have some to add in later.

Well earned breather after the sheathing was done. Even Zoe our site manager took a rest.

Then the shingles, a 12/12 roof is a bugger to do.

Peak vent framed:

I've also framed for a peak vent and loft doors on the front, though I'll add those in later. As wet a Summer as we've had this year, I really wanted to get this thing weather tight as a priority. Yesterday, I finally got the front doors placed and hung, though they are going to need some rework. In order to get the hinges into the stud on the wall and door, I had to bury them pretty deep, so the door only opens 90 degrees. I'll have to get some bigger hinges.

Hoist for the loft:

I still have to finish boxing in the eaves, trimming the corners, add a couple of low vents, caulk and paint. Then Cut, build, install and trim the loft doors. With those in place, I won't have to climb a ladder to the loft with heavy stuff. So, there's still a lot to do, and working solo for the most part, between looking for work, taking care of Jo, and school, I'm just hoping to have it finished by Winter. Later I hope to add power to it for lights and outlets. Not sure how legal that'll be w/o a permit, but we'll see.

Well I just finished getting the doors PROPERLY mounted.
Image

Bigger hinges surface mounted.
Image

I had to do some fitting as the left door was a little oversized for the opening.
Image

Good overlap on the door seam.
Image

Doors close snug and open wide.

Shaping up pretty well. The next step will be to finish the trim and caulking, and to start hanging some peg board and shelves, bike hangers. The fun has just begun.

Really nice work there, Frank.

I like the hoist, but are you going to open up the siding to access the loft?
Or did I skip all the text and only look at the pictures again?
:D

Yeah, I'm planning to cut open the siding over the main door to access the loft. The framing is already set for this, but with all the rain we've had this year, I wanted to get the main doors up and sealed before making any more holes. I also have a louvered vent, just like the one in the top of the rear wall, that'll be going in just above the loft doors. I hope to get the loft doors and additional vents done by October.

Great progress, Frank. Hopefully you'll have everything in it before the snow flies.
