Hey Folks,
I know it's been awhile, but this last bit has been slower going. After I finished the top side of the turntable, I decided to add a more personalized touch to the usually unseen underside. I thought a bit about what to do with this unused space, and took inspiration from a company that for many years was the master of underutilized fence posts along the highways of rural America.
The lettering is incised and stamped. I used a paper stencil tacked down with spray glue. The letters are incised using various chisels, then they are stamped using a nail set. The letters are painted while the stencil remains, using a stippling brush. The stencil is sanded away leaving the letters in stamped relief. A coat of wipe on poly completes the chore.
If you turn the turntable upside down, you can rotate the foot so that the words appear in the windows.

In case you didn't catch it, the words say,
Within this vale
of toil and sin
Your head grows bald
but not your chin
Burma Shave
Cheers,
Tom
