I will be posting all future shop build progress pics here. The concrete slab was pored Saturday 7/5. One week later we have framing and an electrical panel. I will have two windows, a framed opening for a 12,000 BTU heat/cool window AC. 8' roll up door and a steel man door. I asked for a smooth floor with saw cut expansion joints. The contractor thinks the 6" rebar reenforced slab will be fine with no joints and he did not cut any. I'm not too sure about that and is not what we discussed.

Alrightynow....that's what I call progress. Thanks, Dewayne, for sharing with us. Already got me dreaming of what it's gonna look like with sawdust and shavings surrounding some of those fine projects you've been known to produce. I remember a some beautiful baby furniture, cutting boards and a quilt rack among other fine pieces.
Glad you're back!!

Don

Looks good Dwayne!
Bummer about the cuts in the slab. I think I would agree with you.

Good progress!

Hey Dewayne,

Looking good! Expansion joint would be a good precaution, but the slab doesn't look too big, so perhaps your contractor is correct. Keep the pictures coming, I enjoy watching other folks' shops come together.

Cheers,
Tom

Have the concrete contractor come back and cut the joints he was supposed to cut. It's not that hard and will save you a lot of heartbreak later. It's gonna crack otherwise. (It's going to crack even with the saw cut joints, but at least they won't be as bad)

I love it. Soon you will be loading your new and not so new toys into the shop.

They have more concrete work to do around the perimiter so I'll ask them to cut the joints then. We have now decided on a 8 X 16 garden shed attached to the left side of the shop. The slab will be poured now and the shed built after the shop is complete and signed off. This week they have the electrical boxes, windows, roof sheeting and some of the siding done. We have planed on exterior lighting and recepticals too. I will have seperately switched exterior lghting on the pool side and entrance side.

I have more progress shots to upload and will have them up soon.

Progress update, this past week they finished up the electrical, roof sheeting, siding, insulation, windows and have started the drywall. The builder is estimating about 2 weeks to completion. i'm getting anxious to set up shop. We have a scheduled move date to the new home on 8/2.

Let me get this straight. Are you moving away from this house into another? If so, why are you building a new shop here?
On the other hand, If you are moving into this house, how did you get permission to build on this property before closing on the sale? Or, have you already closed and just haven't moved yet?
Our daughter just bought another house and couldn't even get a key to it to do some clean-up before everything was final.

Hey Rog, we closed on the new home June 1, then rented back to the seller untill the 15 th. We have been remodeling and building the shop and have a move date of Aug. 2, the shop contractor is hoping to have the shop complete by then so I can move my tools in. Yesterday they where finishing up the drywall mud. The walls will be smooth surface as texture just holds more dust.

The shop has been complete for a few weeks now. I have been so busy with all the things associated with moving I get little time to unpack and organize the shop. I am awaiting my dust collection parts and will wait until it's installed before putting up my shelves and pegboard. I plan to purchase norfab ductwork but getting frustrated with my local supplier. It almost seems as if they don't give a hoot about having my business.

Enough hot air...how bout some pics!

Lots and lots of room to "play" in. I hope your vendor comes through with your ductwork so you can get your stuff done.
