Another table I rescued from the landfill. It was painted an ugly cream color. The top was plywood coming apart from age and moisture. It must have been stored outside since the post had a bunch mud-dobber bee nest inside. I added a cap to the bottom of the post to keep out such critters. I stripped it all and made a new top. The top is smaller than original since that is the size my wife wanted. I used my router and a circle cutting jig I got on sale at the local Sears when they closed down a few years ago. First time I had used it and it certainly made the round ends much nicer than I could have done free hand on the band saw. The top is maple that Gene and I got a few weeks ago. Different kinds of wood used so staining it was a challenge and it still isn't right, but best I could do. Stain is a mixture of cherry and some left over custom blend I had for another project. Wife didn't want it painted and she is happy with it. As you can see it is already in use.

The skirt around the top is a plywood construction with the outside layer being some kind of composite. It wouldn't accept stain. It must have been glued together in a mold since it had verly little flex to it. I had to cut groves on the inside to get it to bend enough for the smaller curve around the new top.

This is what is looked like when I found it.

Great save! It looks very good from here and more importantly it is useful again!
