Hey Folks,
I did some resawing for the turntable project I'm working on and found something surprising in the interior.
First, I had to add a batten edge to ensure a squared edge for resawing. I used a paper joint so that it could be easily disassembled.Image

When I opened the the bookmatch, look what I found inside

The first, looks like a smiling pug to me

The second looks like Edvard Munch's, "The Scream".
I thought that I would assemble them facing opposite ends, so as to be a sort of Yin/Yang, comedy/tragedy circle.

More later,
Tom

The first one looks like ET! So you get both old and new culture!
Looks like a good project, glad the knee is healing up well.

I found something like that once, only it was not in a board but, in plywood!
I thought it looked like ET and made a clock out of it 8) but, my friend Mo thought it was a bit more X rated than that. :o
What do you think?

No matter how you interpret the figure I think it is a great looking clock.

Hey Folks,

Well, the Lazy Susan project is taking much more time than I had planned for. Of course, I never planned on knee surgery, or reaction wood either.

Speaking of which (the reaction wood that is) when the boards were resawn and book matched, they stared out like hands palm to palm. - II - but then when they were cut, they became like hands cupped. - () - Trying to lay them out to make a flat turntable is going to be a challenge. I've started with inserting some floating tenons into mortices in the edge joinery.

I also plan to add some relief grooves on the underside, and if necessary, a plywood stiffener along with the bearing.

More later,
Tom
