Given Frank's and my close calls recently, I've been doing a bit of online research to try and find out a little more to avoid any other possible mistakes on my part in the future.
I ran across this site that I thought might be beneficial to all:
http://www.wood-database.com/wood-artic ... -toxicity/
While this is the second time that this (tulip) poplar has knocked me down for more than a week, I am not going to take any more chances. I'll be wearing a mask if I'm just walking by it from now on.
I don't know if it's mold spores in the wood or the wood itself, but I'm tired of coughing, wheezing, and my sinuses running. I've coughed so much that I hurt all over.
The wood has been stored outside, in a pile, covered with tarps for a year and a half. Most of it is 18" to 48" in diameter and cut in aproximately 4 foot long logs. While it has been covered, I'm sure some moisture has gotten to it from the ground underneath.
It's been absolutely beautiful here the last 2 weeks, and I've been too sick to take advantage of the good weather. I even missed Thanksgiving dinner .....
So beware when making sawdust and remember to mask up !!!
