Look folks, I can do projects without using my Carvewright! Here is another small gift for another teacher- her favorite book is "the little prince"
Does this frighten you?
I guess all you see is a hat?
Here is the other side where you can see the inside of the boa constrictor digesting an elephant
(those that read the little prince as a child will understand)
The piece is bloodwood and I made it in a similar fashion to a bandsaw box- I cut out the outside shape, cut off the back, cut out the inside hollow where the elephant is, scroll sawed out the elephant, and fixed the elephant back into the hollow... the tight grain camos the seams and it makes it quite difficult to figure out how the piece was made

I then finished the whole thing with shellac/beeswax (food safe for the school)
the total length is about 16 inches long - and it was fun to make.
Thanks again for looking,
Lawrence
