My masonic lodge was sold recently (a good thing, saving us money and we're moving to a shared facility, much nicer building and bigger lodge room) and in the process of cleaning it up this was left over. One of the trustees remembered I had mentioned needing a squirrel cage, and set it aside for me:

well, ok, it's the squirrel cage and motor from a furnace... but it will Become an air cleaner once I build a box around it.

The original set up label is even relatively intact:

That's pretty cool (pardon the pun). You should be able to move a lot of air with that. Will you use an A/C filter?

Ned,

Great snag!! That will make a very fine air cleaner. We MUST see progress photos of the build.

Im debating whether I'm going to use it in this shop, or just save it for my VA shop next summer.

If you do it right, and make it portable, you can use it now and then later after to move. Just put it on wheels and tow it behind the moving truck when you go. :D

Those puppies move a lot of air. Should make for far lest dust in the shop. I'd go with the first suggestion of making it somehow portable so it can be used here and the hereafter.
