I started these cabinets (and the adjoining house) :) over 3 years ago. Through a great deal of delay, pain and toil, they (and the house) are finally finished. These photos were taken before all the drawers and crown were in, and before the glass was put in the upper cabinets, but you get the idea from these shots:

And here are a few photos of the house itself. Our builder went belly-up about half way through it, so I finished it myself, which has a lot to do with why it took so long. Once we got moved in, we realized we didn't like being that far away from everything, and because of our builder, we were a good bit over budget on the thing, so we're in the process of selling it.

After all this, I'm pretty sure I'll be taking a little hiatus from woodworking. It stopped being fun for a while, so I need a little break. I'll keep up with y'all, though. Sorry to be so long between posts.

WOW that's a beauty house and great work on the cabinetry. Shame it has to go. More of a shame that you had such a bad experience with the builder and ended up investing so much of your own labor into it.

Best of luck with the sale though.

Well, whomever is the recepient of that fine house- kitchen and all-- will certainly benefit from your hard work and obvious attention to detail.

I hope you find your desire to continue to create-- no matter what form it takes. Please don't be a stranger.

Yowza... now THAT'S a good looking kitchen! Even without all the doors on it, it looks very regal...

Beautiful house and great work on the cabinetry! You're only about 50 miles from my sister-in-law, btw (Selmer). Nice country up there, always liked TN. :)

Oh, my goodness!!!! Beautiful cabinets, gorgeous house!!! You did great.

I really hate that you have to leave your new home, but you know what is best for you.

Yes, take a break until it's fun again. I understand that.

That's a glorious creation you have there. The stone work is exquisite and blends quite well with the rest of the brick exterior. The interior, at least the kitchen, is a brilliant blending of the exterior architecture and interior with the window motif echoed in the upper cabinet doors. The overall setting appears to be so heavenly I can't imagine wanting to leave. But if leave it you must, I'm reminded of these words from another tag line by someone in another forum:

"A hundred years from now no one will probably remember that I was the one who built it. But they will definitely know I cared". I would certainly feel that way about what you've accomplished here.

And lastly, what a marvelous way to present the exteriors just at twilight to display the interior as well. You either have some very impressive exterior landscape lighting or ... Mind sharing how you lit the entry photo with the tree silhouettes in the foreground? It's the second exterior photo in the group. All I see is one lamp on the left corner of the overhang. I really like the effect.

Thanks for the kind remarks, everyone. I almost forgot what a great morale booster this forum can be.

Dennis, I have two 800 watt Alien Bees strobes at 45ยบ angles from, and 30' away from, the front door flooding the front with light. The strobes are gelled with a full CTO (color temperature orange) gel to match the tungsten lighting of the house and make the sky look really, really blue.
