Hey Larry,
I've done that too, so I feel you're pain bro. Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to have only done it once.
But I do my best not to do it again. I have a 3hp Onieda cyclone and it holds an enormous amount of accumulated dust and chips when it gets jammed up. And boy, is it ever a chore to clean up! It took four 55 gallon drum liners, and all day, both times.
I have found a schematic for an early warning device for the drum, but I haven't found time to build it yet. It uses a small fan that runs in the drum. When the fan is stalled by the chips it senses the increased amperage, and triggers an alarm. If I ever get around to building it, I'll post some pictures of it.
Tom
