Ok, as many of you know, I recently got some Japanese chisels at the recommendation of Tom & Tom.

Last night I went to sharpen 2 irons. One was my 1" Sheffield Marples. The other was my 24mm (~1") Japanese iron.

It was absolutely amazing. I fully back-lapped the Japanese iron in 10 minutes.

On the other hand, this was round 2 with the Marples. Round 1 was about 25 minutes. Round 2 was about 20 minutes. That back is still not flat. Now grinding it down on my WorkSharp.

OK Tom & Tom. I'm sold. These things are wonderful!
