Here's my latest completed project, a bathroom cabinet. This will go above the loo and add much needed storage in our little bathroom.

This was fun. My wife requested a cabinet, I found a photo on the internet of a style we liked, I got some poplar for the local lumber yard, sat and stared at the lumber for about 2 days until I had the construction visualized in my mind and started cutting. Made a couple design changes on the fly, bought a new bull nose router bit for the edges, used a beading bit on the door frames and got it put togeter and painted over the last several days. It will mount on the wall with a French cleat which becomes part of the back wall of the cabinet instead of being hidden. With the art glass in the doors, you can't see the small gaps of the cleat so I think this will work out nicely.

And surprise, the lower drawers are really one large open space.

I hope you like it. I think we will.

The bullnose on the shelves is a nice touch.

Hey Jon,

Nicely done!
Did you construct the crown molding from components, or did you have a bit in that shape?

Tom

Beautiful job! I really like it.
I made one for my son and DIL several years ago but, not quite as nice as yours. They are trying to sell their house now and when my DIL told the realestate agent that she wanted to take it with them when they moved the agent said "Oh no, that is a big selling feature of the house!" :-D That made me feel good :-D but, now I suppose after they get another house, I'll have to build another! :D I may use your design the next time. :D

Isn't it amazing the astounding number of projects your wife can come up with? It is a never ending list. When you finish one, two take its place. It's a good thing wifes are so cute and cuddly. :D

Very nice, but . . . . .

Just imagine how nice that would look were it made from some nice wood and not painted !!

It would be stunning since you have a great design with excellent proportions.

Thanks for the nice comments.
Mark- I agree that a nice oak cabinet would be beautiful. This was a wife request and SWMBO wanted white paint.

Zulu- How did you know my list grew by two the day she saw this almost done in my shop? You are psychic!!

TMS- No, I bought the molding from the big box. I've looked at getting a bit or two to do some molding like that, but not yet.

Thanks again all. It was fun because it was different than working in oak or walnut, which are my normal mediums.

Now I'm well into my next project which I hope to post soon.

Jon, how did you create the space between the 2 false drawer fronts?
(dado and roundover)

Bob asked about the gap between the two false drawer fronts. I used a dado blade to cut about 2/3 of the way through the board then used a rasp and sandpaper to shape.
