Made this buffet for a coworker, mixing different looks to fit her requests. Made of red oak, stained with Minwax stains mixed to match her DR furniture. Finish hand rubbed varnish/blo/spirits.

I purchased the feet and appliques. wish I had a longer piece for the top cove so I could have matched the corners.

Drawer fronts hand DT's, used Stot's jib for rear through dt's-time saver. Used a 10" board for the front drawers for grain direction...thought the bevel a good idea(still do), but it changed how the grain flowed. I do not use metal runners, all wood on wood.

All m and t's pegged. Measures 55w by 41h by 19deep.

Alot of figuring went into this piece as I do not work off of plans.

Thanks for looking. Will post daughter's bed soon. Have a great day.

Gary, the 10" board for the drawers are what really, really finishes the piece.

All of the work is great, the appliques and the feet work well with the design. Your attention to detail is marvelous--dovetails, the mitered corners, using the drawer board vertically and not horizontally (as is usually the case)....can you tell I just love the oak buffet????

Thanks for giving us a look at an extemely well-crafted piece.

Verna

Hey Gary,

Beautiful work! An heirloom for sure, and very neatly done. I agree that the beveled drawer fronts are a plus. It gives the front a very nice texture.

That is an extremely well layed out/thought out piece-- nice job

For the future if you need something like what you are describing for the top cove molding or scrollwork someone with a carvewright and probe should be able to help you out. You can probe a piece and then carve it out to whatever size you'd like. You can also combine or add pieces to the program before carving-- all that being said, I think your solution looks great and the customer will be justifiably pleased.

Excelent job and the detail on the drawer grain really makes it. 8)

You might want to number them so she doesn't mix them up.

GARY,

as a guy who can't cut hand cut dovetails for beans, I have to ask:

If you cut those by hand, why did you make them look like machine cut ?

The even spacing and size/shape of the DT's are not consistent with the skill level of the entire piece !

sorry mark, haven't looked for a bit. No reason other then to keep it all symetric...even, if you will.(symetric??spelling?). Considering a good jig to cut down on time. Thanks for the look.
