Just thought I'd share some images of my latest piece. Its the start of a new series I'm working on of wall pieces based off of satellite images of cities around the world. This one is Timbuktu. Its a mix of western walnut, anigre, and koa. While I wish I could have afforded to have the front panels CNC'd, it was too expensive for me and I had to break out the router and chisels to do all the detail work.

Thats an iteresting piece to be sure. It's not only beautiful to look at but educates the viewer at the same time. Nice work Peter. 8) You might even think about adding a small write-up and pic of the place in a small hidden compartment. That way you'd always have the info right at hand when discussing the piece with friends.

Creative people I can tolerate, craftsmen, I completely understand. But when I see someone that combines both, well..., there ought to be a law! javascript:emoticon(':-D')

Your project is one of the most inventive I have ever seen and is extremely well executed.

I'm humbled.

Please post pictures as you progress in the series.

Doug

Very Cool Peter.

You are an inspiration to many of us!

CNC is good, but sweat blood and tears are better!!!

what a beautiful and unique piece of work-- it is one of those pieces that wouldn't fit in with my decor, but I wish it would because I like it very much.

I'd hang that sucker on my wall in a heartbeat.

Awesome work, Peter. I love the 'street-level' detail you have in it...

Thanks for the comments! Here's a pic of the satellite photo as requested.

This piece does have three doors that open, but future pieces will have some secret compartments in them as well. I've already begun work on the next piece which will be Baghdad.
