Started the Sleigh Bed this past weekend. Following is picture of what it should look like and progress to date. Just have post roughed out and mortised.

Don't know about all those curved slats! This may be the most difficult project I've tried, will see how it turns out.

This is going to be a great project to watch. What wood are you using? Looks almost like Mohogany.

The more times I look at the "model", the more I love it, AG!!!

Question: are you going to use the exposed bolts on the uprights at the footboard?

Very interesting bed design you chose. I don't usually care for sleigh beds but I really like that open design on the headboard and footboard. Keep us posted with progress pictures.

all those curved slats

That was my immediate reaction to the picture as well.

It's coming along very nicely!

Thanks for sharing.

I'd love to see how you intend to do the slats (in detail ;) ).

AG, this is going to be one GREAT craftsman project.
Wish you were closer. I'd love to help with it.
But, can I watch? :)

Today got the side rails and bottom cross rails glued and milled out. Also got the top cross rails in press. Ha Ha Check out that conglomeration of clamps.

The design is easy . Says the boat builder; The only thing I could build on a boat is the mast and that is if they do not need it rounded :D .

Let us know how it goes.

I do like the entire design it looks roomy alas our room does not permit roomy only constricted.

It's for my Neice. I tried to talk her into something different but she had her mind set. Personally I don't much like it, maybe it will grow on me.

Update on progress. Had some trouble with tenons, big cut on (cheeks?). Have not needed that kind of tenon in nine years of woodworking! Finally had to cut those with hand saw. Thanks to Dan for the terminology if I have it correct now.
