I've just come across an interesting blog on furniture design.

Check out: http://georgewalkerdesign.wordpress.com/

What he says makes a lot of sense to me... what do other people think?

His debunking of the use or otherwise of the 'Golden Rectangle' in classic furniture is quite a revelation. (See Jan 29th 2010)
There's a tremendous lot there .... I'm not sure how much you're going to see me on the forum over the next few days. :D

It will make some interesting reading. I can relate totally to the Murphy's law of woodworking. I am certainly no slave to the golden rectangle theory but his example with 3 rectangles was not a good one, I had no problem identifying the one based on the golden criteria. Nevertheless I plan to read a lot more of this.

Thanks for the link. Just started poking around and does appear to be a keeper. Already found a couple items I can use on the current project.

Just be sure you read the WARNING statement (linky at the top of the home page) before you venture too far into his site.

Also, check out the "Chipstone" links from the menu on the right. Takes you to a extensive digital library maintained by University of Wisconsin.

Fantastic! I saw the article in the last issue of PW, and I'm even more excited to find his thoughts online! Thanks for posting this! :-D

Now, to disappear into the depths of knowledge and return more enlightened!
