I have a 8" aluminum sanding disc for my table saw that I got from Sears 25 years ago. I haven't used it in forever and now have an use and can't find any discs for it that I won't have to take out a loan to buy.
The one place in FL wanted 7.50 for 2 and 11.95 to ship them, well I told them where to ship them ! !

Thinking spray adhesive like photo mounting and a 50 cent piece of sheet paper stuck on it ? trim off and done.

thoughts ?

They ain't cheap, that's for sure. The place has a lot of supplies you can combine to get the shipping cost spread.

I have a Sears 8 with carbide embedded right in the disk. Super coarse on one side, coarse on the other. Haven't used it in years either. The 12" disk on the side of my 6x48 JET may have something to do with it.

I use 3m spray adhesive for my 10 inch disk sander and it works just fine-- just make sure you use an adhesive remover (I like goo gone) to remove all the residue and clean it well with 409 or such between uses.

I cut mine to size ahead of time with a wooden disk I made just undersized and I use a utility knife to cut it (sandy side up so that it grips the wooden disk tightly) The scraps I use are the bigger ones from my klingspor "bargain box" and the sandpaper lasts a loooong time between uses as it is quite heavy duty.

speaking of klingspor, you could always just buy paper from them here

still pricy, but cheaper than you were looking at and if you watch from time to time they will do free shipping on orders over $25

Spray adhesive works OK but contact cement will stick it on so that it stays on until you want it to come off (Just use some mineral spirits or lacquer thinner to get it to release.)

Sears should still stock 8" or ship it to the store.

just don't stand to the either side of the disc as it spins. the Table saw spins a lot faster then a normal disc sander does.
