I have often used "sanding sponges" for lathe work but they can get costly. I found that PSA strips will stick to used sponges and work quite well. And I can buy a 100 foot roll cheaper than a five pack of sanding sponges. Also I have found that two strips of wood held together by a wood screw will clamp a piece of scocth brite and a strip of PSA to use for inside sanding mugs, cups, or bowls.
